VAN DER LAAT & JIMÉNEZ CELEBRATES 55 YEARS OF EXPERIENCE
IN THE CONSTRUCTION SECTOR
IN COSTA RICA
In a competitive market like the Costa Rican construction industry, Van der Laat & Jiménez stands out for its track record and experience. For more than 50 years, it has met the market's needs with core values such as commitment, professionalism, responsibility, honesty, and reliability.
Van der Laat & Jiménez proudly celebrates its 55th anniversary. Since its founding on February 21, 1969, by Rodrigo Van der Laat and Ricardo Jiménez, the company has been a pillar in the development of infrastructure projects in the country and has become one of the leading companies in the construction sector.
“These 55 years of history generate for us not only the satisfaction of being recognized as one of the best construction companies in Costa Rica, but also the enormous merit of making the generational transition as a family business,” said Víctor Acón Jiménez, president of Van der Laat y Jiménez S.A.
The construction company's first significant project was the Arenal water intake in 1980, a milestone that marked the company's growth and expansion. Over the years, it has participated in emblematic projects such as the construction of the Comptroller General's Office in 1988, the Meliá Conchal Hotel (now the Westin Conchal) in 1996, and the Trauma Hospital in 2013.
In addition to its construction activity, the company has ventured into other fields, such as real estate investments, such as the OMNI Commercial and Office Condominium in downtown San José, the Torre Cordillera Office Center in Rohrmoser, among others.
The Company has also participated in residential projects targeting various socioeconomic levels throughout the country. "We are committed to maintaining our standards of excellence and also to be seen as a benchmark in the construction sector," said Acón.
The company began with four employees and currently has more than 750 administrative and field workers.
Among its most recent developments, which stand out in terms of innovation and quality standards, are the New Puntarenas Hospital, the New Turrialba Hospital, the Office Building for the Superintendency of the Central Bank, and Oxígeno Human Playground. To date, the company has more than 2,200,000 m2 of built projects in the country.
For the future, the construction company aims to continue growing and developing quality projects that contribute to the country's sustainable development. Technology has evolved rapidly in the construction sector, and Van der Laat & Jiménez has been able to incorporate these innovations to improve its processes and offer quality service to its diverse client portfolio.
